We’ve Got Some Exciting News

Well, happy Labor Day weekend everybody. Hopefully, your Labor Day weekend has been on the light side of labor and on the heavy side of weekend, but anyway. Many of you have seen the promo that Justin put up for us and did, and say, wow, what the heck is this all about, and this looks pretty impressive, and man, he did a great job on that.

I want to talk a little bit about what is the Man Up Project? The Man Up Project, I’ve got the book Man Up, right? The Man Up Project has kind of evolved from the book. The book was intended to be just kind of my musings of what it looked like in the areas that I was trying to do better and be better in. The Man Up Project has become that. It’s become my goal of getting men to be the best version of themselves. That’s it.

We all know, here’s the thing … So, then people ask, what is the Man Up week? Well, it’s something that we created. There is no official hallmark Man Up week, but it’s something that we created because I do know this … The only way you’re going to effect change, whether it’s in your own life or in the world in general, the only way to effect change is to get in action. That’s it. You have to spur on or have to perform yourself some kind of action. Without actions, nothing’s going to change. Nothing’s going to move forward. Nothing’s going to be any different, unless there’s action involved.

That’s really what this Man Up week is all about. I mean, you guys have all heard of the Ice Bucket Challenge, right, for ALS? Well, we’re going to kind of do the same thing, but this is going to be called, it’s going to be called the Man Up Challenge, and what’s going to happen is there’s a few guys that I’m going to start this out with by challenging them.

Here’s the thing, we all know, whether or not we want to admit it to ourselves or not, we all know in the areas of our life that we need to “man up in”, and again, the manning up part is just doing better, being better. We know those areas that where we’re slacking, we’re lacking, or we just don’t care, or we haven’t cared. That’s what this is all about.

This is about me, and I’m going to challenge a few guys in the beginning, and then they’re going to challenge their guys, and anybody here I want you to challenge too. I want you to look for an area in your life that you want to man up in. It could be something, it could be as simple as taking your wife on a date, spending more time listening and focusing on her. It could be spending more time with your kids. It could be delving deeper into your faith. It could be taking your occupation, your business more seriously. It could be your friendships. Whatever it looks like for you, and again, we all know those areas where we know where we need work. I’m not calling anybody out on anything other than basically the same thing I am. I know the exact areas that I need work on, so I’m going to do the same thing to myself. I’m challenging myself to man up in certain areas of my life as well.

The guys I’m going to challenge and the guys here, you are here, we’re going to challenge everybody. So, what I want you to do is going to be this. Number one, you’re going to accept the challenge. So, the guys that I’m challenging right now, Justin Anderson, you’re getting challenged officially, Chris Boer, you’re getting officially challenged, and here’s the thing. All of the guys that I featured in my book, even though they’re all crushing it in my mind for each area of the book that I have them in the book for. That’s why they’re there because I felt that they really have that area down. I’m going to challenge each one of those guys in the book in a different area.

Vic Berchfield, Aaron Bamboon, Gary Cox, Kevin Wilson, Jim Vonwald. Let’s see. Who else is in there? Trying to remember to go through all the different areas of the book. So, all of you guys that are in the book, you’re getting challenged. Every single one of you, to do something different, to pick an area in your life where you know you need to man up, and here’s what you need to do. Either on Facebook or Instagram, you take a picture.

So, let’s say you feel that you need to man up in the area of your kids, of that one-on-one time with your kids, and that special time with your kids. Do something special with them and take a picture or take a short video of it this week, or not this week. It’s going to be not this week, but the next week. You’re going to take a short video and you’re going to post it on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #manupchallenge. That’s it. That’s all it is.

Now, because originally when we were thinking of this, I’m like, well oh dang it, I really don’t want to do this without something else that we can benefit, and then Houston Harvey happened. What we’re going to do is the iconnect … Now I just forget it. Oh, crap. I’ll post it down below and we’ll put it on the official … It’s ManUpProject.com/challenge, and it’s the iconnectoutreach.org. Iconnectoutreach.org. So, that’s the group that is giving and helping with the Houston, with all the flooding in Texas in general. It’s not just Houston. There’s lots of other cities and towns that we’re effected.

If you don’t want to man up, if you’re challenged and you don’t want to man up in that area of your life or in any area of your life, at the very least donate then to the relief funds with Houston. However much you, I’m not going to put a number on it. That’s part of manning up. We’re all big boys. Pull up your big boy pants and donate whatever you feel led to donate whatever you can afford to donate whatever you feel like. Because you’re not willing to man up, you should donate.

But, then here’s the thing. If you’re challenged, do it, and then challenge three other guys. That’s as simple as it gets. Guys, again, that’s who I’m challenging. I’ll put another post. I’ll put a written post down below that shows the guys that I’m challenging. If you go to ManUpProject.com/challenge, that’s also going to tell you there’s another video that Justin’s going to put there that’s going to kind of go into greater detail as far as if you, some of the rules and stuff like that, and then we’ve got these T-shirts right here. Meekness isn’t weakness. And then, we’ve got some white ones with just the Man Up logo on the front kind of distressed with white and orange.

The first 10 men that I see that or the first 10 people that I see that do this that I can find that hashtag #ManUpChallenge, I’m going to give you a free T-shirt just because I think it’s cool. I think that, again, the only way to effect change is to actually get into action, and this is my way of trying to figure out a way to get people into action.

No, don’t be afraid. There is a way for the ladies to get involved too because I know we have quite a few ladies that are lining and like this movement. Here’s the thing I really want to be able to do. There’s lots of men that are manning up. There’s lots of men that are the epitome of man up, and I don’t want to have this all doom and gloom, so I want the ladies to be able to recognize possibly their men that are manning up. So, to give a shout out to what their men are doing that in their mind is truly manning up, whether it’s with them or with their kids, or in their faith, whatever that looks like.

If you’re a gal and you have a guy who is manning up in your life, I want you to be able to nominate him or give him a shout out, and again Facebook or Instagram hashtag #ManUpChallenge just to recognize him and say, “Hey, my man is manning up. I’m proud of him.” Nothing wrong with that. Those will have the opportunity for the first 10 or whatever too will have the opportunity for a free T-shirt. Doesn’t have to be just men as well.

All right, guys. That was the big announcement. I know some people are like, whoa, this looks something majors going to happen, like you’re going to have some celebrity on. No. Just me, but we wanted to get as many people as we could joining, so want to make it look pretty cool which Justin I think knocked it out of the park. I look forward to your comments, guys. I look forward to seeing the areas that you’re manning up, and you know what, I’m going to do the same thing. I’m going to post something where I’ve manned up in a picture. Again, I never ask somebody to do something I’m not willing to do, so I know full well that I’m expected to do it as well and I will do it this week or starting next week as well.

Again, starts not this week, but next week. I hope you all are having an awesome holiday weekend. Get out there and do less labor, do more enjoyment, take a little time to spend with those you love, and yeah. Stay safe everyone. All right. Catch y’all later.
